In February 2009, Glenn Adelson, professor of Conservation Biology and Biodiversity brought a group from Brandeis University to the Azuero peninsula.
“The diversity of forest types and uses and the success achieved thus far make the AEP (Azuero Earth Project) and the Achotines Laboratory an ideal site to study restoration ecology.
Restoration Ecology is a science and an ethic–it can only be successful if the needs and values of those in the surrounding human community are included. The restoration work being done at AEP is a beautiful example of this combination. All projects are being carried out with one eye on how they are going to benefit the local community.” -Glenn Adelson
